Description

Our speaker this month is Camilo Parra Palacio, Founder and Designer in Otto DIY, He will talk about " Truly Opensource Hardware"

Camilo Parra Palacio is a Colombian that has been more than 3 years in Shanghai as Industrial designer for Bestway inflatables, but he didn't just settle for a job, his passion for robots and toys make him very curious about 3D printing and electronics, so after playing around with robots at Xinchejian hackerspace, decided to create Otto DIY an interactive robot that anyone can make! truly opensource hardware, closing the gap for people without technical knowledge to learn to build their own robots with affordable off shelf standard components.

"Opensource" has been a comfortable advertising word for many products these days, but what is real opensource hardware? is your project really opensource?, think twice before saying you and you projects are opensource; is not just about releasing files and code. The journey of Otto is a clear example of a team driven project with passion together with a truly sense of open design with the goal of inspiring new inventors and robot builders.
